1stGear Driving School has been established since 1997. 1stGear is a locally based friendly, family run driving school. We are committed to delivering a high quality service to both you the instructor and your pupils. 1stGear can and will provide support for you in all areas of your business. We have extensive knowledge both in the driver training industry and running a successful business.

1stGear D.S never forget that you are our customer and that without you we would not have a business, it is with this in mind that we continually strive to stay ahead in all areas of the business.

Your Business

We also realise that the majority of instructors are tempted into becoming a Driving Instructor with the thoughts of being your own boss, working when you want to work, not being told what to do and when to do it! That is why 1stGear D.S give you complete flexibility regarding how you organize your diary and when you work.

At 1stGear an operating area is agreed, this area is then broken down into postal districts. This means, that when a pupil books a lesson, the pupils post code is input into the computerised booking system. The system will then highlight the instructor covering that area. The pupils details are then passed on to you for you to book their first lesson. This allows you the flexibility to manage your own diary more effectively, whilst giving you the freedom to work around any commitments that you may have.

Marketing

1stGear D.S closely monitor all areas of marketing to ensure the monies invested in getting the phones ringing is used to its maximum potential and not wasted. Marketing your business is carried out in many ways for e.g directories, internet, newspapers, leaflets and posters within your operating area. When you join 1stGear D.S. we supply you with business cards, leaflets and posters that you can place in local colleges, supermarkets, local newsagents etc. for the promotion of your new business .

The Call Centre

1stGear's D.S call centre is available during the hours of 9am-8pm Mon-Fri and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. All calls to 1stGear's call centre are dealt with in a professional and friendly manner by our trained staff. The team are fully aware that they are at the heart of the business and that it is only with their telephone selling skills accompanied with our value, quality and high level of service that calls are converted into active pupils, ensuring that both our businesses continue to flourish.

Support

Being a local company 1stGear D.S are always on hand to offer support, whatever problem you may have with your business. Should you require assistance outside of call centre hours, we provide you with emergency contact details.

Joining as a Trainee

1stGear D.S are aware of the concerns most trainees have when they are faced with the decision of choosing a Driving School that meets their requirements.

Most frequently asked questions:

• Will I be supplied enough pupils?

• Will I earn enough money?

• How far will I have to travel for work?

• Can I receive extra training?

• Who can I turn to for advice and support?

When you join 1stGear D.S we provide an induction session before you take your first pupil out. At the induction we give you guidance on how to operate your business, how to prepare yourself for your pupils and what they are likely to expect. It also allows 1stGear D.S the opportunity to answer any questions you may have. Our D.S aims to support the instructor on a continual basis, offering guidance throughout the training period. You are most probably aware that within the first 12 weeks of your trainee license start date or before your first attempt at the part 3 exam, (whichever is the sooner) you are required to take a further 20 hours of training. 1stGear D.S can offer the required 20 hours training completely FREE of CHARGE (subject to conditions).

The Franchise Package

Dual Controlled Car

If you opt to use a school's vehicle the price you pay will depends upon the vehicle supplied.

All vehicles include the following:

• Fully insured

• Road fund licence

• Full maintenance included

• Unlimited mileage

• AA / RAC cover, roadside, recovery and homestart

• Replacement vehicle if your vehicle is off the road for over 24 hours

Franchise Rates

1stGear D.S offer a highly competitive franchise package and aim to beat any other Driving Schools Franchise Package offering the same services.

1stGear D.S also offer a choice of start up schemes to assist you financially whilst your diary builds up over the initial weeks.

Please Note: 1stGear D.S place no restrictions upon the number of hours you choose to work, you can work as many or as few hours as you wish.
